Making the Modern World is a chronicle of the things that have formed modern society. Innovations from Stephenson’s Rocket to genetic engineering immerse guests in a world that inspires, surprises and entertains. Take a look at the Apollo 10 command module that carried astronauts around the Moon during the final rehearsal for Apollo 11, or hang out with the original Raleigh Chopper. This is an exciting environment that’s ideal for presentations, dinners or receptions.
Wellcome Wing. Dedicated to the future, it’s a breathtaking display of modern science set against dramatic architecture. Each of its four floors presents an aspect of science that guests can explore. For example, see what you would look like as a member of the opposite sex, or take a close look at Mika Hakkinen’s technology filled McLaren Mercedes F1 car. The Wellcome Wing is a world leader in the presentation of contemporary science and is committed to exploring new ideas and issues in a series of thought-provoking interactive displays. It’s a must for forward thinking companies.
The Flight Gallery traces the development of aviation in an atmosphere that educates and stimulates. Ideal for dinners, receptions or awards ceremonies. Guests can dine under Amy Johnson’s Gipsy Moth or Alcock and Brown’s Vicker’s Vimy. Before dinner, invite your more adventurous guests to sample our simulator with its variety of thrilling rides. Actors are also on hand to bring experiences to life… for instance, Amy Johnson gives an account of her solo flight to Australia in 1930.
Energy Hall transports you to a bygone era. Discover the Power Gallery; an inspiring collection of Britain’s engineering achievements during the Industrial Revolution. Walk around the 1903 Harle Syke Mill Engine, which operated for 67 years until replaced by electricity. Its sheer scale will leave you awestruck. This gallery is sure to spark conversation; it’s a perfect venue encouraging guests to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and ponder what life was like… pre-electricity.
Closest tube station is South Kensington on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines. By road the closest car park is the NCP at Kensington Marriot Hotel which is approximately 13 minutes walk from the venue.
